HELLO 2K9! This is a FIRST.

The only thing I wanted for New Year’s Eve is to watch amazing fireworks and see everyone jumping around while screaming HAAAPPY NU YIRR!! Quite Simple. But even a wish as simple as this was taken away from me or from us, my fellow kabayans living in Dubai. All forms of celebration were cancelled to mourn with the killings in Palestine by the Israeli military. Well, we don’t have any other option; we are all expats mixing with their culture after all. Talk about silent New Year? This is a FIRST.

I have already prepared myself for a soundless night, so the only desire left in me is to get really drunk and feel the alcohol get thru my nerves. Well, in this case, I did not disappoint myself. 😀

We started the night dining out in Sea World with our closest friends in UAE. For 23 years, I have always celebrated New Year, eating mega noche at home, so again, This is a FIRST. A sumptuous dinner was served. All of the delectable sea food you can think of — Name it, we got it! From crabs, to squid, to prawn, hammour, mussels, sherrie and even the uber expensive lobster didn’t escape our no-meat night. I can barely remember how we finished up eating a good-for-15 meal when we were just nine. All I know is that our last meal for the year was filled with satisfaction. On a second thought, it wasn’t that hard with Stephen around. Hehehe! Everybody knows how big his storage is! ; ) It was a simple dinner though with the usual Filipinos addicted to picture taking, poses here – pose there, followed by a drinking session in our house. Two pitchers of Vodka with 7up, 4 liters of San Mig and a company of good friends made my night. The last vision I had was Pen asking me if I had already transferred our pictures from our friend’s SLR to my laptop. I had also remembered answering “hindi pa” then BAM! Blacked-out!

In the morning, all I can feel is an extreme thirst and hunger, numbness of my lips as I utter “sh*t, sakit ng ulo ko”. Hehehe.. So HELLO 2K9! Last night would be kept in my memory box, just promise to bring me BETTER DAYS for the year. I am playing the same by Goo Goo Dolls with my fingers crossed and hopes up!
